Each of the past two Decembers, I have undertaken an amazing project by the name of 20 Causes, 20 Days.
It's a volunteer project where I volunteer my time at 20 different local causes, then highlight each my experience at each one on my website over 20 days.
This project was just me the first year (2009), then in 2010 I wanted to step it up. So I set a goal of bringing five people out to each cause to volunteer with me. Mission accomplished, as I inspired 107 total volunteers to join me in helping make our community a better place. So awesome!
It was such an amazing experience that taught me a lot about myself, about others, about the true needs of the community, went a long way in restoring my faith in mankind, and enabled me to honor a dream my mom had about me.
The goal of 20 Causes, 20 Days was to inspire others to take just a few minutes out of their week to help a local cause by volunteering.
After all, I had never volunteered before and I committed to volunteering at 20 causes over 20 days, so maybe that would inspire someone to volunteer just once. Inspiring 107 people to join me in 2010 was quite astonishing.
